About

What is Capybara Pet?

Capybara Pet is a desktop pet for Mac and Windows: a small pixel-art capybara with a carrot on his head who lives in the corner of your screen. He follows your cursor, types along on a tiny keyboard while you work, and falls asleep when you step away.

He is also useful. If you code with an AI agent such as Claude Code, he shows when it is working and does a happy hop when it has finished, so you do not have to watch the terminal. He can run a Pomodoro timer, remind you to stretch and drink water, and show a pinned note.

Capybara Pet works offline, never records what you type, and is a one-time purchase with no subscription. Read more about the Mac version, the Windows version, Claude Code notifications or Pomodoro and stretch reminders.

FAQ

Questions

How does the license work?

One payment of £2.99 (shown in your own currency at checkout). You get an activation code by email that works on up to 3 of your computers, Mac or Windows, including all future updates. No account, no subscription.

I got a new computer. What now?

On the old one, open Settings → License → Deactivate on this computer, then activate the new one with the same code. Lost the old computer? Email me and I'll reset your activations.

Does it need the internet?

Only to activate. After that he checks your license now and then and keeps working offline for at least 14 days between checks.

Why does macOS say it can't verify the developer?

The app isn't notarized by Apple yet. Use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway once and macOS remembers your choice.

He doesn't react to my typing

On a Mac, switch on Capybara Pet under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. He picks it up within seconds. After an update, remove the old entry with – and add it again. He only ever learns that a key was pressed, never which.

Does it work with agents other than Claude Code?

Yes. Anything that can run a command or send an HTTP request when it starts and finishes (Codex, Cursor, scripts) can call /event/thinking and /event/done.

Refunds?

If he's not for you, email me within 14 days for a full refund. See the refund policy.
